Opel Drivers Sue Tigran Avinyan's Father

On January 17, Grigor Iskandaryan, a member of the Yerevan City Council from the Mahir Hayastan faction, filed a lawsuit against Tigran Avinyan's father, Armen Avinyan, for the expression 'Opel drivers are fools.' This was reported by the newspaper Hraparak.

Iskandaryan has submitted a petition to the Yerevan First Instance General Jurisdiction Court, demanding 500,000 AMD as compensation for defamation. He himself owns an Opel and has called on other Opel drivers to file similar claims.

It turns out that many drivers responded to the council member's appeal. We learned that several citizens approached Grigor Iskandaryan for assistance in filling out their applications. 'Everyone who approached has received legal advice from our lawyer; the templates for the claims have been provided, and they just need to fill in their names, sign them, and submit them to the court. We don’t have an exact number at this moment, but we have given legal advice to many people and also provided the form for the claims,' said Grigor Iskandaryan.
