Court Finds Mamikon Aslanyan Guilty
The former mayor of Vanadzor, Mamikon Aslanyan, has been found guilty and sentenced to 4 years and 4 months in prison. Taking into account the time Aslanyan has already spent in custody, the court has sentenced him to 1 year and 9 months of imprisonment. He has also been fined 500,000 drams. Furthermore, Aslanyan is barred from holding any official position for a period of 3 years.
Mamikon Aslanyan has been accused of alienating lands in Vanadzor through the preparation of false documents during his term in office. Charges have also been filed against two of his subordinates, the legal adviser and the chief architect of the community.
