Has Demarcation Work Begun in Tavush? - Hraparak

Reports from Tavush indicate that demarcation work has commenced since yesterday. Some individuals are conducting site surveys at the intersection of the Armenian, Azerbaijani, and Georgian borders. Yesterday, both sides engaged in surveying activities for several hours. This was reported by the newspaper Hraparak.

“It is noteworthy that Prime Minister Pashinyan has sent Tavush Governor Hayk Ghalaumyan on vacation from January 27 to February 10. We asked the governor's brother, MP Vahe Ghalaumyan, yesterday whether it is true that the demarcation process has begun. The parliamentarian said he was not aware of it.

Let us remind you that last week, the demarcation commission announced that the process would resume from Northern Armenia, but no further details have been provided. For instance, what principles the commissions will follow, whether territories occupied by Azerbaijan years ago will be returned to us, if there will be an exchange, or whether we will exclusively play the role of a conceding party; what fate awaits the interstate road between Armenia and Georgia, part of which is presumed to fall under Azerbaijani control as a result of the demarcation.

Yesterday, Garnik Danielyan raised such a question to Mher Grigoryan, asking whether a certain section of the road would be transferred to Azerbaijan. “We have an established procedure that clearly describes how decisions are made, what form they take, and how they come into force. Within this framework, I believe you can find the answer to your question,” Mher Grigoryan replied,” the newspaper noted.
