More than 47,000 people have died in Gaza, over 111,000 injured

As a result of Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip, more than 47,100 Palestinians have died since the start of the military actions in October 2023. The Palestinian Ministry of Health in the enclave provided these figures on its Telegram channel, according to TASS.

"Since October 2023, the number of casualties due to Israeli military operations in Gaza has reached 47,107, and an additional 111,147 people have been injured," the ministry's report stated.

According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, in the last 24 hours, four people have died and 56 have been injured in the enclave. Additionally, during debris removal, doctors discovered the remains of another 68 individuals.

The situation in the Middle East sharply deteriorated on October 7, 2023, following an incursion into Israeli territory by militants from the Palestinian radical group Hamas, which was accompanied by killings of residents in border areas and the abduction of more than 240 people. In response, Israel launched military operations in the enclave aimed at destroying Hamas's military and political infrastructure and rescuing all those abducted.

In the evening of January 15, the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, announced that through mediation efforts from Doha, Cairo, and Washington, Israel and Hamas had reached an agreement regarding the release of hostages held in Gaza and the establishment of a ceasefire in the enclave. The agreement, which includes three phases, came into effect on January 19.
