The Number of Traffic Accidents Significantly Decreased, Says Minister of Internal Affairs
In the Republic of Armenia, the number of traffic accidents, as well as fatalities and injuries resulting from them, has significantly decreased in 2024. This was stated by Arpine Sargsyan, the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, during a press conference summarizing the year 2024.
“During the reporting period, there was a reduction of 299 accidents, the number of fatalities decreased by 45, and the number of injured individuals decreased by 421. Analyzing the situation regarding traffic accidents in the Republic of Armenia, it becomes clear that both the safety culture among drivers and the intensified work of the police, as well as the significant increase in the number of vehicles we observe every year, play a major role,” said Sargsyan.
According to the Minister, if in 2024 there were about 924,000 vehicles on the roads and a certain number of fatalities and injuries occurred, this marks a 13% decrease compared to the number of fatalities recorded in 2015. At that time, there were 560,000 vehicles in the Republic of Armenia.
