Netanyahu May Sabotage Gaza Ceasefire Agreement at the Last Minute, Expert
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu could potentially sabotage the Gaza ceasefire agreement at the last minute by introducing new conditions, even though the current phase of negotiations is proceeding in a more positive atmosphere than previously experienced. This opinion was expressed by Bashir Abdel Fattah, a political observer at Egypt's Center for Political and Strategic Studies, in an interview with a TASS correspondent.
“The current phase of negotiations is progressing somewhat differently and more positively than previous ones, but it seems to me that reaching an agreement contradicts Netanyahu's true intentions. I believe that just before sealing a deal, he will push forward new conditions that will be difficult for Hamas to implement, and he will blame the other side for the fact that an agreement was never reached,” Abdel Fattah opined.
He is confident that the Israeli Prime Minister “will not agree to a complete cessation of hostilities in Gaza and the withdrawal of military forces from there,” and hence might “at the last minute blame Hamas for disrupting the very agreement he allegedly was ready for.”
