Favorable Conditions Have Emerged for Us Right Now, Says Edmon Marukyan

For two consecutive days, Azerbaijan has been disseminating misinformation, claiming that the Armenian Armed Forces have opened fire towards Azerbaijani positions, writes Edmon Marukyan, the head of the "Enlightened Armenia" party.

"We all understand very well that with these statements, they are preparing the ground for future military aggression, so they can later frame it as defensive actions. Meanwhile, our authorities are carelessly enjoying the weekend. Through their propaganda machinery, they have created the illusion of a 'no-problem state' and are trying to refine it so that as many people as possible believe in this fairy tale.

Today, as the current US administration is transitioning out, and the incoming one is likely to maintain lengthy uncertainty or absolute neutrality regarding our issues, it is natural that our enemies will take advantage of the created chaos to gain the utmost benefit.

What are we doing? We are conducting negotiations through unmediated interviews without any bargaining platform. This is an irresponsible and short-sighted policy that will lead to new calamities. I continue to insist that open issues can be resolved through the most effective mechanism, and I call for a return to the November 9 format. Right now, favorable conditions have emerged for us within that format, and you know this well. Later, do not say that we lacked political courage or failed to propose solutions."
