Karen Giloyan on His Resignation
I have not submitted my resignation yet. I will make a final decision by December 30. This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports and sports commentator Karen Giloyan in an interview with NEWS.am Sport.
There have been circulating rumors online suggesting that the Deputy Minister of Sports has submitted his resignation. "I have not submitted my resignation and continue to serve as the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports. I am considering resigning. I have a meeting with the WADA president before December 30. As you know, I have been elected as a member of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Foundation's board, which offers me broader opportunities. If I reach an agreement before December 30, I will likely write a resignation letter after the holidays. I have been elected to WADA for a three-year term, from January 1, 2025, to January 1, 2027. I also have several other private projects. There are two major programs: a training sports base for gatherings and another large sports complex with an ice rink, an Olympic swimming pool, and all the necessary facilities for competitions. The sports base will be located in Hankavan, while the complex will be near Yerevan. We are currently in negotiations. There will be investments of several tens of millions. Many of my close friends want me to stay in sports to help develop club sports. So, everything is still in the negotiation phase; I have not submitted my resignation. I will make my decision after the New Year," the deputy minister said.
Karen Giloyan has been appointed as the Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports since December 29, 2020.
