Ukrainian Forces Launch New Assault in Kursk Region

The Russian Ministry of Defense has provided a summary of the progress made in repelling an attempt by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to penetrate the Kursk region as of 12:00 PM on January 5, 2025.

The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation continue to crush Ukrainian military formations in the Kursk region. During offensive operations, units of the Northern Troops group have thwarted multiple assaults in the areas of Darinoy, Kurilovka, Nizhniy Klini, Nikolaev-Darinoy, Alexandria, and Leonidovka.

Two counterattacks by Ukrainian assault groups were repelled. Around 9:00 AM Moscow time, the adversary launched a counteroffensive to halt the advance of Russian forces in the Kursk direction. Two tanks, a clearing vehicle, and seven armored combat vehicles were destroyed. The operation continues.
