Trump Calls on Court to Delay TikTok Ban in the U.S.
The newly elected President of the United States, Donald Trump, intends to politically regulate the claims against the Chinese social media platform TikTok. He has urged the Supreme Court to halt legislation that could result in a ban on the platform in the U.S.
The former president respectfully requests that the court consider suspending the enforcement of the legislation set to take effect on January 19, 2025, while it examines the case substantively, which would allow the new administration to reach a political resolution on these legal matters. This was stated by the elected president's attorney, John Sowers.
It should be noted that TikTok is owned by the Chinese company ByteDance. In April, President Joe Biden signed a law that could lead to the platform being blocked on January 19, one day before Donald Trump's inauguration.
