Operations at Several Airports in Russia Temporarily Halted

Operations at several Russian airports have been temporarily suspended. Since this morning, Sochi Airport has ceased the acceptance and departure of flights. This was reported by Artem Korenyako, the press secretary of Rosaviatsiya, on his Telegram channel.

“In order to ensure safety, temporary restrictions have been imposed on the operation of Sochi Airport. It is not currently accepting or dispatching aircraft,” the statement reads.

Korenyako noted that all airport services, including staff and air traffic controllers, have taken measures to ensure the safety of flights.

From 06:00 Moscow time, temporary restrictions were also enforced at Kazan Airport, where acceptance and dispatching of flights were halted as well. Representatives of Rosaviatsiya clarified that these measures are related to ensuring safety.

On the morning of December 27, restrictions were also imposed at Volgograd and Astrakhan airports. As a result, flights from Moscow by Aeroflot and Pobeda airlines were delayed in Volgograd, while an Aeroflot flight was impacted in Astrakhan.

A representative from the airport, Anastasia Golodova, reported that all restrictions in Volgograd and Astrakhan have now been lifted, and operations at the airports have been restored.

Earlier, on December 26, departures and arrivals at Moscow airports were temporarily suspended due to the threat of drone attacks.

Rosaviatsiya emphasizes that such measures are necessary to prevent threats to flight safety and to respond promptly to potential risks.
