Inspector Will Have Special Device When Entering Bus: Avinyan

After the full implementation of the new transportation system, when all payment methods operate seamlessly, employees of the public order maintenance service will regularly visit buses and fine passengers traveling without a ticket or using a privileged ticket not belonging to them. This was announced by Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan during a press conference, responding to a journalist's question about how non-paying citizens will be handled.

“We are working towards maximizing the efficiency of all systems and eliminating the issues that still exist within the system. At some stage, when we are confident that these systems are operational, and all privileged groups have access to their benefits, a control mechanism will be implemented,” he said.

According to him, whether the payment is made by bank card or QR code, the inspector will have a special device when entering the bus and will ask citizens to show proof of their ticket.

It is noteworthy that the price change for using public transport in Yerevan will be postponed from January 1, 2025, to February 1. However, coin acceptance machines will be sealed starting January 1, meaning that payments with 100 dram coins will no longer be possible, transitioning to a fully electronic payment system.
