What Position Does Yerevan State University Hold in the World's Best Universities Ranking?
The Dean of the Scientific-Educational International Center of the Armenian National Academy of Sciences, education expert, and associate professor of pedagogy Atom Mkhtaryan writes on his Facebook page: 'The 2025 Times Higher Education ranking of the world's best universities has been published. Once again, only one university from Armenia is included in this ranking—Yerevan State University (ranked 1501st). There are three universities from Georgia (the best ranked 1201st), and two universities from Azerbaijan are also included.
Russia has 81 universities in the THE ranking (the best ranked 107th), Turkey has 91, and Iran has 80. Among the former Soviet states, Ukraine has 17, Lithuania has 5, Kazakhstan and Latvia each have 4, Uzbekistan and Estonia have 3 each, and Belarus has 1 ranked university.
Israel has 8 universities included, while Cyprus has 4 in this ranking of the best universities. I would also like to add that the ranking is topped by the University of Oxford.'
