Asma is Dying: The Condition of Assad's Wife Has Sharply Deteriorated
The wife of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Asma, is suffering from a recurrence of cancer. Since at least May, she has been undergoing treatment for acute myeloid leukemia. Doctors estimate her chances of survival at 50%, as reported by The Telegraph.
"Asma is dying," a source close to the political figure told the newspaper. Another source, who managed to speak with the Assad family in Moscow, described Asma's leukemia diagnosis as horrifying, noting that she has not been feeling well in recent weeks.
Reports indicate that Asma Assad is currently not allowed to see her family to prevent any accidental transmission of infectious diseases. Furthermore, she has been completely prohibited from being in the same room with other people; however, her father, Fawaz al-Akhras, has been caring for her in Moscow for some time.
