The Russian Ursa Major ("Great Bear") commercial vessel has sunk in the area between Spain and Algeria. This has been reported by Maritime Executive, El Español, and La Verdad.
Two crew members are missing, while the remaining 14 have been rescued by maritime rescue services and taken to the Spanish city of Cartagena.
Just the day before, as the ship was heading east towards the Strait of Gibraltar, an explosion occurred in the ship's engine, causing it to deviate from its course. The captain of the ship reported that at the time of the accident, it was transporting empty containers.
