New Defendant in the Case of the Fire in the Azat Military Barracks
The investigation department of particularly important cases of the Military Investigative Division of the Investigative Committee has separated the pre-trial investigation regarding the apparent crime committed by defendant R. Matevosyan in the case of the 15 soldiers who died in the fire at the military barracks in Azat village. This was reported by the representative of the affected parties, Norayr Norikyan, on his Facebook page.
"In the coming days, the materials of the case will be sent to court. R. Matevosyan has been charged under part 3 of Article 543 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia, which states that violating the internal service regulations by a person included in the daily order of the military unit (except for members of the guard and patrol groups), if such act unwittingly leads to a violation of the law within the military unit, disruption of the daily order, disruption of a military operation or combat mission, or theft from the territory of the military unit during a state of martial law, war, or battle conditions, or which unwittingly causes human death, is punishable by imprisonment for a term of three to six years," he wrote.
