Two Dozen Mopeds and Cars Missing: Ministry of Internal Affairs Provides Details

The National Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has initiated a criminal case regarding the disappearance of mopeds from the specially protected area of the police service. This information has been provided by law enforcement agencies in response to written inquiries from Sputnik Armenia.

Approximately two dozen mopeds and cars have gone missing from the ministry's impound lot. There are reports suggesting that some of the departures may be directly linked to patrol officers.

In response to inquiries, officials from the Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that during the internal security and anti-corruption department's internal review, factual data regarding apparent crimes had been obtained. Consequently, the documents resulting from the internal investigation have been sent to the Office of the Prosecutor General to resolve the issue of initiating criminal proceedings.

"The internal investigation process has been suspended, and it has been decided to address this issue based on the final outcomes of the legal assessment related to the mentioned case," the Ministry stated.

The Prosecutor's Office also responded to Sputnik Armenia's written inquiry, stating that the Anti-Corruption Committee has initiated proceedings under Article 254, Part 1 (theft, secret misappropriation), Episode 9 of Article 441, Part 1 (abuse of official or service powers or exceeding authority), Article 435, Part 2, Point 3 (accepting bribes), and Article 436, Part 2, Point 3 (giving bribes).
