Russian Citizen Killed in Iranian City Near Azerbaijan Border

The body of a Russian citizen, a truck driver, has been discovered in the Gilan province of northern Iran. This was reported to RIA Novosti by the press service of the Russian Embassy in Tehran. According to the information received, he was murdered.

“On December 16 of this year, the body of a Russian citizen of Dagestani origin, who was a truck driver, was found in a garden near the city of Astara,” stated the diplomatic mission.

They clarified that Iranian authorities are currently conducting an investigation, which is under the supervision of the Russian Consulate General in Rasht and the Embassy in Iran.

“The Russian side calls on our Iranian colleagues to urgently and thoroughly investigate, punish those responsible, and restore order at the Astara border crossing,” the diplomats added.
