Defense Ministry Discusses Development of Domestic Defense Industry

On December 20, a consultation regarding the development of the domestic defense industry was held at the administrative complex of the Ministry of Defense, chaired by the Minister of Defense Suren Papikyan and the Minister of High-Tech Industry Mikayel Hayrapetyan. This is outlined in the statement released by the Ministry of Defense of Armenia.

“The consultation was also attended by leaders and representatives from various Armenian defense industry companies. The head of the defense department welcomed the attendees and emphasized the importance of the active participation of Armenian defense industry companies in the provision of weapons, ammunition, and various technical means, assuring that the government will assist in the development and progress of the sector in every possible way,” the statement noted.

Minister of High-Tech Industry Mikayel Hayrapetyan characterized the importance of the sector's development as a priority, confirming the ministry’s commitment to standing alongside the industry and being proactive in addressing issues. In this context, he highlighted the significance of having open and transparent working discussions with defense industry companies and the need to make such discussions a regular occurrence.

Sector officials and directors of specific companies spoke about the work done, results achieved, and plans for the upcoming year. During the consultation, several issues related to cooperation were discussed,” the statement adds.
