How We Continuously Irritate People: Pashinyan

The government is preparing to compensate citizens affected by flooding in Alaverdi, Lori Province.

“When making decisions, I don’t understand what guides us. Isn't it the case that we need to provide a bank account number? If there is no account number, we won’t give it. Go write an application, wait in line, get turned around, come to Yerevan, go back to Alaverdi, stop by the unified social services in Sevan, visit the conscription office in Ijevan, go to the police department in Berd, and check in with the prosecutor’s office in Novemberyan. I don’t understand why we make decisions like this. It’s as if we are constantly irritating people, and as you can see, not just people,” said Pashinyan.

The Minister of Economy, Gevorg Papoyan, stated that citizens often send the card number instead of the account number. The Prime Minister inquired with the Central Bank President whether it is possible to identify a person by card number. In response, Martin Galstyan stated that it is possible, but an additional step needs to be taken. The Prime Minister mentioned that it is feasible to make the transfer using both the account number and the card number.

He noted that all this reminds him of the plot of a surrealist film: “It resembles Kafka’s ‘The Castle’ entirely; the person wrote it, left it on our table, as if we come in the morning, read it, and find out what we need to do that day, how we should act.”
