Aliyev Reveals Number of Armenians Remaining in Artsakh

The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, has stated that the Armenians remaining in the occupied Artsakh region receive social support from Azerbaijan. He specified that according to data from two months ago, about 20 people remain there.

“Those who have stayed receive social support from Azerbaijan, from the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection; they receive treatment, are provided with food, and life there is completely 'secure',” claimed the Azerbaijani president.

On September 19, 2023, Azerbaijan announced the start of a so-called ‘anti-terrorist operation’ in Artsakh; however, this was in reality a massive military aggression. On September 20, Baku and Stepanakert agreed upon a ceasefire with the assistance of Russian peacekeepers. On September 28, the President of the Republic of Artsakh, Samvel Shahramanyan, signed a decree to terminate the existence of the Republic of Artsakh effective January 1, 2024. Since then, more than 100,000 ethnic Armenians have been subjected to ethnic cleansing.
