Asad: I Did Not Consider Resigning or Fleeing the Country

Former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has stated that he remained in Damascus until the early morning of December 8 and only left the country that evening. This was reported by TASS.

“At no point during the events in Syria did I consider the possibility of resigning or fleeing the country,” Assad asserted. It is noteworthy that on the night of December 8, it was announced that President Bashar al-Assad's authority had 'come to an end'. Reports indicated that Bashar al-Assad and his family left the country following negotiations.

Subsequently, information emerged that the former president of Syria had arrived in Moscow. The Kremlin stated that Russia is not obliged to officially inform anyone about granting asylum to Assad.
