Arrested Meat Sellers Refuse Legal Representation
In Yerevan, at the meat market on Khorenatsi Street, at least five of the eight arrested meat sellers have reportedly refused the services of a lawyer, according to Sputnik Armenia.
It should be recalled that on December 13, inspectors from the food safety authority, accompanied by police, seized approximately one ton of meat from the market, claiming that it had not undergone slaughterhouse processing. Eight meat sellers were arrested, and their points of sale were closed.
According to reports, the meat sellers will be released once the 72-hour detention period expires, and it is possible that the charges against them will be limited to the relevant articles of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Republic of Armenia.
Additionally, it is worth noting that the spokesperson for the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Narek Sargsyan, stated that the arrested individuals have been presented to the investigative body along with the necessary documents.
