What Food Items Have Become More Expensive in Armenia
In November 2024, compared to the same period last year, diesel fuel has decreased by 9.9%, gasoline by 6.6%, and autogas by 1%. The Statistical Committee of Armenia, presenting the consumer price index, reports that inflation in Armenia in November 2024 has reached 1.4% compared to the same period in 2023.
Since mid-2023, inflation in Armenia has been close to zero; however, it began to rise in June 2024. Specifically, food items, including non-alcoholic beverages, have increased by 1.7% during the reporting period, while alcoholic beverages and tobacco rose by 4.1%, and clothing and footwear by 2.5%.
The most significant price increase in the consumer basket has been seen in coffee, which has risen by 14.9%. The price of coffee has started to increase over the last 2-3 months, driven by rising global prices due to poor crops in Brazil and Vietnam. Regarding vegetables, they have increased by 9.8%. Fish has also seen a price increase of 5.4%, and medications by 3.1%.
According to the Committee's data, pasta has decreased by 6.3%, cheese by 4.5%, and sugar by 3.5%.
