When Will Damascus International Airport Be Restored?
Damascus International Airport will resume operations in a few days. This information was provided to Qatari Al Jazeera by a source in the Syrian opposition's political administration, which established control over Damascus and many other cities in the country at the end of last week.
"The international airport will be operational in a few days. Cleaning and organizational work began today," the source told the channel.
It is noteworthy that since the early morning of December 8, Damascus International Airport has stopped accepting and sending flights, and all staff have been evacuated from the air hub.
It is recalled that on November 27, armed opposition groups began a large-scale assault on the positions of the Syrian army in Aleppo and Idlib provinces. On the evening of December 7, they seized several major cities (Aleppo, Hama, Daraa, and Homs), and on December 8, they entered Damascus. Syrian government units have also left the city.
