Russia Tightens Work Regulations for Migrants

The Presidential Council for Civil Society and Human Rights in Russia emphasizes the need for increased accountability for employers who invite migrants to work. This was stated by council chairman Valery Fadeev during a meeting with human rights defenders and President Vladimir Putin.

“We believe that it is particularly important to enhance employers' responsibility for the migrants they invite. This includes, among other things, facilitating access for labor migrants to enter the country and providing them with medical insurance,” said Fadeev.

He also highlighted the necessity of creating mechanisms to counteract the uncontrolled movement of labor migrants from one employment area to another. “If a migrant decides to change their workplace, they must obtain a new permit to work in the new location or leave Russia,” Fadeev noted.
