What Happened in Syria Surprised Russia: Peskov

Today, Dmitry Peskov, the spokesperson for the President of Russia, announced that the events in Syria have also caught Russia by surprise. “What has happened has perhaps astonished the whole world, and we are not an exception in this case,” said the Kremlin spokesperson.

According to Peskov, Russian President Vladimir Putin will “continue in one way or another” consultations with the leaders of Turkey and Iran regarding the situation in Syria.

Earlier today, it was reported that at Moscow's initiative, the UN Security Council will hold an emergency meeting in the coming hours to discuss the developments in Syria.
