Red Alert Declared in Great Britain

Millions of people have been warned to stay home, thousands are without electricity, and train services have been canceled as the government's "danger to life" warning comes into effect due to Storm Darragh, PA Media reports.

The warning went into effect at 1 a.m. on Saturday for those in the rare red alert zone in the southwest regions of Wales and England. Residents are urged not to drive and to stay home "as much as possible." The meteorological department informed PA Media that wind speeds have reached 92 mph (approximately 148 km/h) recorded in North Wales and the Llŷn Peninsula.

Along the coasts of Wales and Northern Ireland, wind speeds recorded have been between 72-78 mph (115.8-125.5 km/h).
