Threat of Terrorism: Israel's Warning to Travelers to Armenia
The Israeli National Security Council has updated safety assessments for three countries, issuing travel warnings accordingly. The travel warning level for both the Maldives and Armenia has been raised, while it has been decreased for Brazil, according to the Times of Israel.
For Armenia, the travel warning has been elevated from Level 1 to Level 2 due to “increasing threats from terrorist elements against Israelis/Jews in Armenia,” as stated in the Israeli National Security Agency's announcement. The specific nature of these “terrorist elements” remains highly classified.
Level 2 advises travelers to “take increased precautions,” but it is not deemed a call to entirely avoid travel or leave the country.
The Maldives has raised its alert level from 2 to 3 due to the “presence of terrorist sympathizers on the island and growing hostility towards Israelis and Jews.” Under a Level 3 alert, Israelis are advised to avoid all non-essential travel to the area.
Additionally, the Israeli National Security Agency has lowered the travel warning for Brazil to Level 1, except for the Brazil-Argentina-Paraguay border area, where a Level 2 warning will remain in effect.
