This surge is attributed in part to the election of Donald Trump as President of the United States, who has pledged to strengthen the role of cryptocurrencies in financial markets. Over the past year, the total value of the cryptocurrency market has nearly doubled, reaching a record high of approximately $3.8 trillion. Bitcoin's value has nearly doubled this year, experiencing a 50% increase in the last four weeks after Trump’s election.

During his campaign, Trump promised to make the United States the "crypto capital of the planet" and to accumulate a national reserve of Bitcoin.
