Aliyev Identifies Obstacles to Achieving Peace Between Armenia and Azerbaijan
Unfortunately, the deep-rooted hatred within Armenian society, the dreams of a "mythical" Greater Armenia, the territorial claims preserved in Armenia's constitution, and the rapid militarization of this country hinder the achievement of lasting peace between the two. This statement was made by Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev.
He added that Armenia's rapid armament and the "territorial claims against Azerbaijan" present in the Armenian Constitution also disrupt the peace process. Aliyev made these remarks during the second international conference titled "Right of Return: Ensuring Justice for Azerbaijanis Displaced by Force from Armenia," held in Baku, organized by the so-called "Western Azerbaijan" community.
By referring to "Western Azerbaijan," Baku implies the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia.
