Trilateral Trade Route Between Armenia, India, and Iran
Armenia, India, and Iran are discussing the establishment of a trilateral trade route. This was reported by Parstoday.
Armenia's Deputy Minister of Economy Narek Hovakimyan stated that the project involves various forms of strategic economic activity at the Chabahar port.
“Serious negotiations are currently underway in a trilateral format between Armenia, India, and Iran. Although I cannot disclose more details, I can say that the project is in the testing phase and a certain amount of cargo has already been delivered,” Hovakimyan announced during a press conference at the Armenia-India Business Forum held in Yerevan.
Hovakimyan emphasized that the proposed route could become one of the main transportation arteries of the region after the infrastructure is operational. Armenia aims to utilize the Chabahar port as an operator to facilitate access to India and other Asian countries. The project envisions the integration of Iran's Chabahar port with the North-South International Corridor, a route that significantly reduced the distance between Iran and Georgia, enabling cargo to be sent from southern Iranian ports to Georgia's Black Sea ports within 2-3 days.
The launch of the route will simplify the prospects for trade development among the three countries and improve communications with Europe and Asia. The new route will also create new economic opportunities for the region and play a key role in promoting international trade.
