VIDEO. The World Perceives Us as a Martyr Nation, Says Pashinyan
“The state budget is an inseparable part of each family's budget; there is not a single person in Armenia whose personal needs are not funded by the state budget. Therefore, the state budget of Armenia is an inseparable part of the family budget of every citizen of the Republic of Armenia,” said Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during an extraordinary session of the National Assembly.
According to him, the government’s 14 members differ from the others in one aspect: these 14 people manage the country’s largest financial resources, the state budget, and he hopes that everyone will view the state budget through this lens.
“It is very important for us to understand how the world perceives us. This question has many important layers and nuances. When I try to summarize my impressions over the last 6.5 years, I come to the following unavoidable conclusion: our average statistical image in the world can be formulated as follows: the world perceives us as a martyr nation. The message we want to convey to the world is that we consider overcoming the status of being a martyr nation as the greatest mission of our government. The best way to surpass the martyr nation formula is through a nation-army. I must also note that I am not sure this is at least the correct response to the first formula. My reflections lead me to conclude that the nation-army concept is within the logic and continuation of the martyr nation formula,” Pashinyan noted.
