The Mayor Did Not Make Such a Promise, Says Suren Grigoryan
The Mayor did not make such a promise, stated Yerevan Deputy Mayor Suren Grigoryan in response to the drivers who announced a strike. The drivers claim that he promised to raise their salaries by 150,000 drams.
“Regarding the issue of salaries, we will periodically return to it according to the system's implementation, reduction of the shadow economy, expenses, and the collected funds. This has been said many times, not only by the mayor but also publicly,” he noted.
In response to the observation that some grievances may be objective, he replied, “Excuse me, perhaps the emergency vehicle drivers also have complaints and will say they won’t work. Let’s differentiate two things; you have a grievance, how do you voice it? There are issues that we consider objective, but setting a person at the stop aside—this is not the way to do it.”
