Unresolved Issues Have Led to the Current Situation, Says Turkish Foreign Minister
Turkey's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has made important statements regarding the events in Syria during a joint press conference with Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
"Recent events have once again shown that Damascus must reconcile with its people and legitimate opposition. At this stage, it would be wrong to attribute the situation prevailing in Syria to any external interference," said Fidan.
The minister emphasized that Turkey is closely monitoring the events taking place in Syria and will not allow terrorists to take advantage of the region's instability.
"The unresolved issues over the past 13 years in Syria have led to the current situation. We do not want the civil war to continue, cities to be destroyed by bombings, and people to be displaced. It is important for people to return to their homes to reduce the flow of refugees. It is crucial to prevent terrorist organizations from gaining new opportunities," said the Turkish foreign minister.
Fidan revealed that he has been negotiating with his partners on the Syrian issue over the past 48 hours and that plans are in place to resume the Astana process in the near future. He highlighted the importance of genuine dialogue between Turkey and Iran regarding the Syrian issue, calling it "vital for Syria."
