Situation in the Armenian Community of Aleppo
The situation is dire: we have no water, no flour, and no bread; the bakeries are closed. This was stated by Fr. Joseph Ghazarian of the Armenian Apostolic St. Mary Church in Aleppo during an interview with "Hraparak".
He noted that the armed groups that have taken control of the city have not had any issues with Armenians, and there have been no clashes or disturbances. "They do not cause us any harm," said the Armenian from Aleppo.
People can move around within the city, but they remain cautious as military clashes, though distant, still create an atmosphere of wariness. They proceed carefully and only as necessary.
"We hear sounds, but from a distance," said the priest and added, "Just pray for us." Currently, Aleppo is under the control of the pro-Turkish group, Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham, which is essentially Jabhat al-Nusra. According to available information, the leader of Hay'at Tahrir, Abu Mohammad al-Julani, was reportedly killed yesterday in Idlib due to an airstrike by Russian forces.
