Georgian Prime Minister Threatens Saakashvili's Party

The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, acknowledged during a government meeting that the Georgian authorities could appeal to the country's Constitutional Court (CC) to seek the illegal recognition of opposition political parties. This was reported by TASS.

According to the head of the Georgian government, representatives of the opposition have openly expressed their opposition to Georgia's constitutional system in recent days, which creates a direct basis for appealing to the Constitutional Court and declaring opposition parties unconstitutional.

Kobakhidze added that by opposition, he specifically refers to the "United National Movement" party of former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, as well as the "For Change" and "Strong Georgia" coalition.
