Attempt to Seize Power: Georgia's State Security Service
Protests against the government near the parliament building in Tbilisi indicate an attempt to forcibly seize power in Georgia. This was stated in a declaration from the State Security Service of Georgia.
"Recent events in the country show that planned unconstructive actions are occurring in line with factual circumstances identified during an investigation into the attempted seizure of power by the State Security Service. We have previously informed the public about this," the statement read.
"A certain group of people are trying to organize provocations during demonstrations near the Georgian parliament, aimed at developing unconstructive and violent scenarios by leaders of specific political parties and civil organizations to seize power," the statement added, noting that the State Security Service is investigating these events under Article 315 of the Georgian Criminal Code (Conspiracy or Rebellion Aimed at Altering the Constitutional Order of Georgia).
