God willing, this will be a turning point in the history of the region: Khamenei's advisor
The reaction of Iran to the opening of the 'Zangezur Corridor' is driven by the West's desire to conduct east-west transportation through Azerbaijan, the Caspian Sea, and Central Asia under the NATO guise, with only Iran understanding the depth of this conspiracy. This was stated by Ali Akbar Velayati, the advisor on international affairs to Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, as reported by khabaronline.ir.
“God willing, this will be a turning point in the history of the region and the establishment of peace and security in this sensitive area. The joint military exercise between Iran and Azerbaijan is an important event that is the result of the Supreme Leader’s prudent policy regarding the South Caucasus and demonstrates the growing strengthening of brotherly relations and fraternity between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Azerbaijan,” said the advisor.
“Unlike the West, which has no good intentions, the Islamic Republic of Iran genuinely desires the well-being of its Azerbaijani brothers,” Velayati noted. He added that “in recent years, against the backdrop of the war in Ukraine, the U.S., under the NATO pretext, has been trying to penetrate the South Caucasus region and practically create an alternative while Russia's attention is focused on Ukraine.”
According to Velayati, “the West, led by the U.S. and with the assistance of some allies, has undertaken actions that have revealed that the West and NATO have no honest intentions regarding the South Caucasus.”
