VIDEO: 7 Million Drams Worth of Drugs Discovered at a Residence
Officers from the Criminal Police's Drug Enforcement Division, acting on operational information, arrested two men aged 32 and 24 on November 18 near the intersection of Vardanants and Yervand Kochar streets in the capital, suspected of illegally acquiring and possessing drugs. During a personal search, both individuals were found to be in possession of a greenish substance resembling marijuana. The criminal police already had information indicating that they had purchased the drugs for 8,000 drams from two nationals of the Islamic Republic of Iran. This information was confirmed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Law enforcement activities continued and reached a logical conclusion the same day at 9 PM when two Iranian citizens, aged 26 and 32, were arrested and transferred to the Central Division of the Community Police on suspicion of illegally acquiring, possessing, and also distributing drugs. A personal search of the men revealed two bottles and one plastic container filled with approximately 84 grams of greenish substance. Preliminary information suggests that the drugs were smuggled into Armenia.
One of the young men was also found to have a folding knife. Within the framework of a criminal case initiated, a search was conducted on November 21, upon a court decision, at the residence of the suspects in one of the houses on Nar Dosi Street, in collaboration with the investigative department of the Central and Norq Marash administrative districts in Yerevan. Marijuana-like substances weighing 146, 157, and 125 grams, as well as tablets, were discovered and seized. The total market value of the seized drugs exceeded 7 million drams. Forensic and toxicological examinations have been appointed. The 26-year-old and 32-year-old men have been arrested and subsequently remanded in custody. An investigation is underway.
