VIDEO: 300,000 drams for obtaining a driver's license seen in TikTok ad

On November 16th, at 3 PM, a 23-year-old resident of Hrazdan was arrested on suspicion of bribery and transferred to the Yerevan Erebuni police division. He reported that a week earlier, he noticed an advertisement on the social network 'TikTok' about quickly obtaining a driver's license for 300,000 drams.

The police have stated that the citizen, who fell victim to a deliberately fraudulent advertisement, transferred 285,000 drams and 45,000 drams as a bribe for obtaining a driver's license to a cryptocurrency account provided by a user named A. Tevosyan from a Telegram channel on November 19th. 'He called me and said that I should come to the address Saryan 9, where a Bitcoin terminal is located. I sent 285,000 drams. I took a picture of the receipt and sent it to him. A few minutes later, he called and said that there was an act in my name, and I transferred another 45,000 drams. Then he called me again and said to go to the Gaji factory to get the driver's license. I entered the room to obtain the license, and they told me that there was no driver's license in my name,' said the 23-year-old.

Before presenting himself to the Erebuni district community police, the young man received the last message from the Telegram user: 'You have lost your money. I am an unknown fraudster, and I am in Georgia. If you contact the police, you will have serious problems with the law, and you will not be able to identify me. If you try to write any offensive words to me, I have your details. Also, let me inform you that your money is already in Georgia.'

The Erebuni community police are undertaking operational and investigative measures to identify, locate, and bring the Telegram user's details forward to the prosecutorial body. The prepared documents have been submitted to the Anti-Corruption Committee.
