USA Allows Ukraine to Use Anti-Personnel Mines: Pentagon

The U.S. Department of Defense has confirmed to TASS that the American administration has authorized the use of anti-personnel mines in Ukraine.

“I can confirm that the administration has approved the use of anti-personnel mines in Ukraine,” said a Pentagon spokesperson, commenting on The Washington Post's report that U.S. President Joe Biden has permitted the supply of such mines to Kyiv. The agency's interlocutor insisted that the Ukrainian side is committed to not using these mines in areas with civilian populations.

He also clarified that the discussion concerns so-called unstable mines, which become inert after some time. Earlier, The Washington Post reported that Biden has allowed Ukraine to receive anti-personnel mines, thereby abandoning the policy established in 2022 of limiting their use outside the Korean Peninsula.
