‘Thief in Law’ ‘Pzon’ Acquitted: Prosecutor's Office Response
The verdict acquitting Armen Ghazaryan, known by the nickname ‘Pzon’ and recognized as a ‘Thief in Law,’ will be appealed by the Prosecutor's Office. This was reported to NEWS.am by the Prosecutor's Office.
It is worth noting that earlier, Ghazaryan's lawyer announced that the court had reached an acquittal verdict for his client. Recall that on March 21, 2022, the prosecutor initiated public criminal proceedings against Armen Ghazaryan for maintaining his status despite holding a high rank in the criminal hierarchy (Article 322, Part 1 of the Criminal Code).
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, it was determined during the criminal proceedings initiated on November 2, 2022, that in 1991, in the city of Rostov-on-Don, Russia, Armen Ghazaryan received the title of ‘Thief in Law’ in the presence of individuals with high rankings in the criminal hierarchy, thereby acquiring a high rank status and continued to maintain this unauthorized status as of November 1, 2022.
Measures of restraint were applied against Ghazaryan in the form of a combined restriction: a ban on leaving and a bail amounting to 20 million drams. The criminal case was sent to the court in March 2024.
