He Could Be Experiencing Psychological and Mental Distress: Hajiyev

The Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, Hikmet Hajiyev, has harshly criticized Congressman Frank Pallone and Senator Ed Markey. In his post on social media platform X, Hajiyev stated that Pallone and Markey, upon returning to the U.S. after their visit to Baku, presented results in a manner that aligns with what he claims the Armenian lobby wants to hear.

In the post, he noted:

  1. I had a meeting with Senator Ed Markey at his request.
  2. I reminded him that after the Khojaly genocide, which was perpetrated by Armenia against the Azerbaijani people, the U.S. Congress unjustly adopted Amendment 907.
  3. I pointed out that neither he nor his colleagues remembered justice regarding the military occupation by Armenia and the ethnic cleansing of more than one million Azerbaijanis over 30 years. On the contrary, they continued to support Armenia’s military aggression against Azerbaijan.
  4. I emphasized that investigations into the crimes of separatist military offenders in Azerbaijan, including those engaged in illegal arms sales like Ruben Vardanyan, who supported separatism in Ukraine and was involved in money laundering, will be brought to a logical conclusion, and they will stand trial.
  5. I declared that Armenian nationals can apply for citizenship on an individual basis, and their return issue will be considered in accordance with our country’s laws, if citizenship is granted. However, this can only happen reciprocally and parallel to the recognition of the right to return for the displaced indigenous Azerbaijani population from Armenia.
  6. The Armenian lobby in the U.S. continues to create a politically toxic environment. They are part of the problem.
  7. We advised members of the House of Representatives and the Senate to refrain from becoming a tool of the Armenian lobby. We are gradually approaching peace with Armenia in the region. However, certain American lawmakers, who are incited by the Armenian lobby, hinder regional peace, refuse to recognize the reality on the ground, and attempt to drag us back into the past.

(II) Regarding Pallone, it seems he could be experiencing psychological and mental distress while gazing from his hotel window at the nearby Cup Park, where the destroyed equipment of the occupying Armenian army is displayed, alongside the Victory Park opened by President Ilham Aliyev on November 8. It may have been divine retribution for the injustice he has supported against the Azerbaijani people for years. President Ilham Aliyev did not meet with Pallone, unlike other members of Congress. Pallone does not deserve such an audience. I was also fortunate enough to participate in the meeting. It was held in a very constructive spirit. Pallone keeps lying repeatedly. His attempt to stage a show in Azerbaijan has failed. Citizens, including internally displaced persons, families of martyrs, and representatives of civil society, exercised their right to peaceful assembly by holding a peaceful protest. Journalists asked him how much money he received from the Armenian lobby. This caused panic for Pallone. This is the real end of the story.
