Supreme Judicial Council Chairman Resigns

"I want to get ahead of the wave of dismissals. I no longer resign from either the presidency or the membership of the Supreme Judicial Council," stated Karen Andreasyan, the Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council.

On his Facebook page, he wrote: "Everything is obviously clear, while the deeper reasons I do not wish to disclose. Whatever I say, there will be a thousand and one ways to interpret it, and many false hypotheses will be put forward. I have already experienced such attempts.

Instead, let me immodestly say that I have pulled the judicial system out of a disgraceful crisis. The insiders know this for sure and probably will accept it (except for a few and their relatives, whom I have caused pain for the sake of the systemic surgical treatment). Furthermore, I have laid down dozens of institutional foundations, which, if not contaminated, all people entering the courts will benefit from their results in a year or two.

All our current failures in the judicial system are medium-term because it was impossible to satisfy the just public demands of today within two years, and we have not even desired to meet the unjust expectations. To adequately explain why and how everyone's positive expectations from the judicial system were broken, I would need to write volumes. The text of my resignation is very brief for that.

I am sincerely grateful to all the honest and professional judges and judicial servants who are in the system and have increased in number. I thank the legislative and executive branches, led by the Prime Minister, for their support in our crisis management and, of course, for trusting me with this very heavy but important position. I am leaving without scandal, slop, or disappointment, and I have withstood the longest in this toxic position.

I sincerely believe in the vision of having a just court in a strong Armenia tomorrow. In various capacities, I will continue to support that great dream."
