VIDEO: Azerbaijani Students' Anti-Russian Protest in Moscow
Azerbaijani students held a protest at the Finance and Law University in Moscow. According to a video released online, a group of Azerbaijanis paraded with Azerbaijani flags while chanting 'Allahu Akbar.'
Internet users are calling for a new law that would ban the display of any national symbols in public spaces, except for the state and national flags of Russia. Exceptions may be made for tourists and international competitions.
Shortly after the incident, the administration of the Finance and Law University in Moscow responded, stating that they would take serious measures to address the situation. The organizers of the protest will be expelled from the university, and law enforcement agencies are already handling the case.
'The university is committed to preserving a multicultural, multi-ethnic, and inclusive educational and employment environment. However, hatred and coarse statements are unacceptable. We are confident that all responsible parties will be punished to the fullest extent of Russian law,' the university's statement read.
