Abkhazia's President Declares Conditions for Resignation
Abkhazia's President Aslan Bzhania has promised to resign when protesters leave the Sukhum Parliament building. He traveled to his native village Tamish and stated that he, along with the vice president and other officials, will continue their work.
Georgian media reports that the head of state has not signed a document to withdraw the agreement on Russian investment projects from the parliament, which has sparked the protests. “When the protesters leave the building, I will write a resignation letter, and we will see how much support they will receive in the new elections,” Bzhania said during a meeting with the public in Tamish. He also noted that until new elections, the country will be led by Vice President Badra Gunba.
