Honestly, I didn't understand how this could happen: Pashinyan
Yesterday or the day before, there was a discussion in the National Assembly that surprised me very much, regarding livestock crossing the border from the Kiran area. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said this during a government meeting.
“Honestly, I didn't understand how this could happen, or it can only happen in the section of the border that has not yet been equipped with border infrastructure. Mr. Governor, what information can you provide about this, is there some problem there, has an issue arisen or is it arising?” he said.
Governor of Tavush, Hayk Ghalumyan, responded that after the demarcation until the final equipment of the border, that is, until the barbed wire is installed, we have had several similar incidents, and in all cases, the livestock have been returned. “This is not a focus of public attention because all cases have been resolved positively,” he said.
Pashinyan intervened, stating that although the incident occurred and it has received a positive resolution, that is not a satisfactory answer. “So how can an animal cross over barbed wire?” the Prime Minister inquired.
The governor mentioned that the incidents were recorded before the installation of the barbed wire. Pashinyan also asked the Director of the National Security Service, Armen Abazyan, about the progress of the equipment works, and whether they are still ongoing.
“Mr. Prime Minister, the equipment works are in progress, we have not completed them yet, and the crossing of the livestock occurred before the installation of the barbed wire. Since then, we have not had any incidents,” Abazyan responded.
