This is a slap to the Aliyev regime: Greta Thunberg

The international community should long ago have taken responsibility for the release of political prisoners, military captives, and other detainees held in Azerbaijan. The world needs to take such bold steps. This was stated by the famous Swedish eco-activist Greta Thunberg at a conference on the theme 'Azerbaijan's aggression against human rights and environmental protection' on November 14.

In her assessment, holding COP29 in Baku creates even more challenges. 'Global leaders are in Azerbaijan and are afraid to say what they can be punished for. Azerbaijan remains unpunished; no one demands accountability for human rights violations from it. Because global leaders are there, no one is holding them accountable for inaction either. This is a slap to the victims, to climate change, and to the Aliyev regime. How can COP29 be held in Azerbaijan, where there is not even minimal respect for human rights? And are such countries deciding the climate agenda? Such conferences cannot bring any positive contributions to that agenda,' Thunberg emphasized.

She highlighted that the people of Artsakh have fought for their rights, the right to live and survive.
