The Armenian People Do Not Trust History: MP from the Civil Contract Party

The best indicator of the effectiveness of the programs implemented by the government and the ruling majority is the unfounded criticisms from the parliamentary opposition, manipulations, irrelevant quotations, and of course, false theses and slanders. This was stated by Arthur Hovhannisyan, the secretary of the Civil Contract faction, during the discussion of the 2025 budget draft from the National Assembly podium.

“Gegam Manukyan spoke about rumors circulating in the Indian press that weapons are coming to Armenia. You say one moment to show it, the next moment not to show it; now should we show or not, dear opposition? Will there be such an uncertain situation that you have created for us? You say from the National Assembly podium to make sure the Indian press does not write; if we could do that, we would have done it so that you wouldn’t write. All day long, you write whatever you want, you create and write whatever you want; what a thing,” said Hovhannisyan.

According to Hovhannisyan, the Armenian people do not trust history; they trust reality. “Herein lies the difference between our perceptions of historical and real Armenias. You aspire to return to historical Armenia, where you are, there is no sovereignty, there is no statehood, and there is a chance to become a governor. This is the aspiration you want to achieve. That’s why you say that real Armenia is a threat. Yes, real Armenia is a threat for the Dashnaktsutyun party, where you do not exist, and there is no chance to become governors under the title of national liberation struggle,” he said.

He added that real Armenia is the ultimate outcome of the struggle of all historical periods and that real Armenia is the victory of historical Armenia.
